A scientific study conducted by Chaire CoPack, in partnership with AgroParisTech and the University of Montpellier, has provided confirmation that certified compostable food contact packaging does indeed biodegrade in industrial composting facilities.
Costs through the chain remain high and producer margins for many grades narrow.
The market for waste plastics and recyclates is in a deep crisis. Demand is low, production is being curtailed or shut down and the stock is constantly growing.
Starting 1 July, online retailers will be prohibited from using polyvinylchloride (PVC) in their packaging and will be required to incorporate recycled materials instead.
